Kenny is Lead Pastor at The Crossing. He has been married to Cindy, a North Carolina girl, for almost 25 years. She is his best friend, teammate in parenting, and co-worker in ministry. He also has 2 daughters, [aka daddy’s girls] Hannah & Bekah, who both attend Milligan College in Tennessee. Kenny and Cindy would be empty nesters were it not for their two Chihuahuas, Toby & Mac. Kenny introduces them as his cats that bark.
Kenny has a variety of ministry and life experience. He was a Youth Pastor for 17 years, as well as Associate Pastor and Lead Pastor in churches in OH, KY, NC, TN, and GA. While he misses the sweet tea, grits and SEC football of the south, he is excited to be back home in Clermont County where he has also worked as a bailiff [the “all rise” guy] and an insurance agent.
Kenny graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Bible and Education from Kentucky Christian University, where he met Cindy. He grew up in Bethel, Ohio where he graduated From Bethel-Tate High School. As a matter of fact he still plays “Eye of the Tiger” to get him pumped up to preach. He loves all sports, music, reading, history and traveling.
If you spend any time around Kenny, it becomes obvious that he loves people. While he tries not to play favorites, he would rather hang out with people that don’t feel like they belong in church. It could be because he feels pretty amazed that God would want to use Him in His Church. Kenny is a down to earth communicator that uses a lot of humor and life experience. He loves to see eyes light up when they see the Bible become real and applicable to their present life circumstances.
Kenny has been with the Crossing from the very beginning when it was still just an “idea” back in the spring of 2010.
Jay and Taylor have been married seven years, and have two young boys, Jonah (3) and Rye (1). They are originally from Americus, Georgia and Crestwood, Kentucky, but have spent the last five years on staff at a church in Greenwood, South Carolina. They previously served in churches in Alabama and Georgia, and spent a year traveling with the Children of the World choir. Some of their hobbies include jiujitsu and running (Jay), reading and going to any and every social event (Taylor), pretending to be a dinosaur (Jonah), and trying to eat inedible objects (Rye).
Jay joined The Crossing in April of 2014.
“To our new church family at The Crossing: We can’t wait to worship with you! Taylor and I, along with the boys, are excited to settle down in Ohio and begin our ministry. We look forward to seeing what God is going to do in our lives and in the lives of those in our church over the next season. My passion is to see others connect with our Savior through worship. I have already seen God show up in our lives in a big way as we have begun preparing to partner with you guys. I don’t know everything that God is going to do in the upcoming years but I can’t wait to start walking that path with you. My family has already begun to feel the love from you all and for that we are truly thankful. We can’t wait to get to know everyone and we will see you soon!”
Ken is responsible for the daily operations, administrative work, and overseeing our ministry teams. He has been married to Melanie for almost 20 years. They have 5 children, 4 grandchildren, and 3 ankle biters. Ken considers his wife Melanie his best friend and is so grateful that she has been so supportive in their decision to “turn their life right [Christ] side up” and serve the Crossing.
Ken has worked in various positions at P&G for the past 22+ years. This is the first time he has had the opportunity to follow God’s calling and serve in a pastoral position. He feels that his years of corporate training and various life experiences will make him and excellent fit in his new role.
Ken grew up in the small town Bethel, Ohio where he graduated from Bethel-Tate High School and later went to Methodist College on a golf scholarship. He had always envisioned retiring from Procter and Gamble after 30 years at the age of 50 and giving the PGA Senior Tour a shot. As we often learn, God usually has His own plan for us [which are way better than any we could ever come up with on our own].
Ken enjoys almost all sports [golf most of all] and outside activities. He also likes reading, music, spending time with his family, and eating [unless his cardiologist is reading this].
Anyone that knows Ken will tell you that he loves people and loves to joke and kid around. Ken really believes that God uses every person and life experience to bring you closer to Him and put you right where He wants you to be. He has developed a deep love for the Crossing and his new church family. He is constantly amazed at how God blessed the Crossing in 2013 and is convinced that He has even bigger plans for us in 2014. In case you couldn’t tell, Ken is really excited to be a part of the staff and can’t wait to see how God will use him in this role.
Brandon oversees the ministry to students from 6th – 12th grade. As a part of his ministry to the students, he also partners with parents to lead their sons/daughters into a growing relationship with Jesus. Brandon loves creating environments where students can own their faith. He and his team of volunteers do this by putting on exciting events like ‘Ignite’ on Sunday evenings, small groups during the week, and all kinds of events like mission trips, conferences, and concerts throughout the year. Brandon’s passion is seeing teenagers own their faith and committing their lives in service to Him.
Brandon is blessed to be married to his awesome wife, Sara. He is the proud father of their baby girl, Kairea. Brandon grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He and Sara were high school sweethearts. They started their walk with God together in college and have never looked back. Brandon loves to play Baseball, Hockey, Basketball, Football, and pretty much anything else that involves competition. Brandon is also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Brandon holds a B.S. in Leadership and Ministry and is currently working on completing an MDiv, both from Cincinnati Christian University. Brandon has been with The Crossing since September of 2012.
Sarah serves The Crossing by taking care of our little ones, birth-5th grade. She was a valuable part of the ministry at The Crossing, so it was an easy decision to bring her on board in December 2013. She brings a passion for children, and a heart to serve that has been shaped by being a ‘missionary kid.’
Sarah grew up with her family in Cincinnati, Ohio until God called them to be missionaries to a children’s orphanage in Uganda, Africa. Sarah was nine years old when her family made that life-changing move, and through that experience, God opened her eyes to the physical, emotional, and most importantly spiritual needs of the world around her. Living in the orphanage where her family served, God placed in her heart a love for children – especially those children who had no earthly father and so desperately needed to know the love of the one true Father.
She is so excited to be blessed with the opportunity to serve the children of the Crossing as they learn and grow in the knowledge of the Lord. God has already done so many amazing things with the Children’s Ministry, and we know He will continue to be faithful in the future!
In addition, Sarah graduated from Liberty University with a BA in Inter-cultural Studies and a minor in English. She is currently finishing her Masters of Arts in Pastoral Counseling at Liberty Theological Seminary. There is nothing she enjoys more than sitting down with a hot cup of coffee and a good book. She also loves to paint, play sports (especially volleyball, soccer, and softball), and she has recently decided to start training for a marathon.
